The Ruby, 7070 Hollywood Blvd., also know as the Diamond Club, is going through their permit renewal process. This is something standard that all clubs eventually have to do.

The best thing you can do is write a letter in your own words to let Councilman Garcetti and the city know that you value the venue and mail or email it to the addresses below. Or you can use the form letter provided further down the page.

Over the next few weeks please sign the petitions in support of the club when your at the venue. The more signatures we get the better.

Dear Councilman Garcetti:

Re: The Diamond Club and Restaurant (Applicant Okefenokee, Inc.), at 7070 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90028

I frequent the Diamond Club and Restaurant in Hollywood. The Diamond Club is a wonderful restaurant and entertainment venue that has been operated by the same management for many years.

I understand that the Diamond Club and Restaurant (applicant Okefenokee, Inc.) has applied to the City for the City's approval to continue operating at 7070 Hollywood Boulevard as it has done for the last 19 years. The Diamond Club has been a responsible reputable server of food and alcoholic beverages, and provider of entertainment, for many years at this location, and I am sure that The Diamond Club will continue to be responsible and reputable in the future.

I desire the convenience and necessity and entreatment that the Diamond Club provides in a safe setting. The Diamond Club is beneficial to the community. I fully support the Diamond Club, and I strongly urge all governmental agencies involved in the application and permitting process to make all necessary approval to allow this use to continue.

Thank you,

Very truly yours

Years ago there was a venue called the Stardust Ballroom on Sunset Blvd. Joseph Brooks had a club there and it was the first venue Jason Lavitt went to. What you'll find there today is the Home Depot. Most big cities don't have a dance club scene at all so we are all very lucky. As the city considers the permit renewal for 7070 Hollywood Blvd. we are asking for your help in preserving what we all now enjoy .
